Hello all. I'm brand new to this forum. Just bought myself a Vigier Excalibur 7 less than a week ago. This is my 1st foray into 7-strings and I'm so glad I went with this one instead of the RG's or Horizons which seemed to have the market cornered til now. This is also my 1st Vigier. I am truely blown away. Every night of the week I come home 5ish, plug it in, play....next thing I know it's 11pm and I've forgotten to eat dinner!!I'm curious to know some other guitarists thoughts on the Vigier style of HSH wiring. Those familiar with it will know that positions 2 and 4 are actually wired out of phase, and that the middle pickup sits well below the outer two at a fixed height. This makes for some very unorthodox sounds...particularly in position 4 (bridge split/middle). I have had some limited success with position two (neck split/middle) but am finding it hard to see how position 4 can be used in a musical situation. Positions 1,3 and 5 are to die for and make this guitar well worth the price tag.I believe that a good guitar will reveal its purpose as you get more familiar with it. Therefor I'm not at all worried about the two unorthodox sounds...in fact I enjoy the challenge of finding uses for them.Like I said, I'd be really curious to know how others on this forum use these 2 very unique sounds...let me know.Cheers,Tom

This is the normal setting but we are questioning ourself about it and if we should change it to more standard setting...

It is a RW/RP, so if you install a new one use a standard pickup.

I think this is a great option for this guitar.
