Ask Ron....z.guitarfreak wrote:patrice, could you tell us some basic ideas of the bumblefoot doubleneck?
What about a double neck with each neck having 3 strings? The neck having the 1st to 3rd strings is dedicated mostly to lead playing, thus it has the 13rd to 24th frets and a Floyd Rose trem, while the other neck having the 3 heavy strings has the 1st to 12nd frets, a fixed bridge AND a locking nut for solid rhythms.
The pickups for each neck have independent output jacks so they can be plugged into different amps which are set to lead and rhythm tones respectively. And if you are a fretless player, guess what, both necks have a half that fit you too!

That sounds like a crossover between the Stick, which has separate outputs for the bass and treble strings and Paul Gilbert's double neck, which has a regular six string neck and one with only three strings, all octaves of E.z.guitarfreak wrote:What about a double neck with each neck having 3 strings? The neck having the 1st to 3rd strings is dedicated mostly to lead playing, thus it has the 13rd to 24th frets and a Floyd Rose trem, while the other neck having the 3 heavy strings has the 1st to 12nd frets, a fixed bridge AND a locking nut for solid rhythms. I guess it would also matter if it had two regular six string necks, only with one of them having just three strings, or if it had a regular six string neck and and a neck designed for three strings (so you won't be able to string it like a normal guitar). The first one, like the Gilbert double neck, might not do so bad, although a fretless second neck is of course much cooler.z.guitarfreak wrote:yeah, i kind of thought the same with the pablo thingy, BUT how many are going to buy that?

yes of course, it would make the decision to buy a fretless guitar much easier if there is a doubleneck with the other neck fretted!!!

We have no plan for a double neck, excepted the unique model for Ron Thal.

WOW!
Haven't been here for a while now, but saw that the thread has over 1000 viewings in less then 5 months. It seems that there could be some interest of a vigier doubleneck !
PS.: I absolutely love my new Vigier SL Master !!!
Praise Patrice to the sky!!!
Kind Regards, Georg

If ever we do a double neck, it will be Fretted/Fretless.Regarding the number of requests, we had the same thing for left handed guitars, we spent a lot of time on this project but do not ask me how many we sold since they are available..... not a lot.I think it will be the same for double necks. If we want to have fun we will do it, if we want to make a living, we will forget about it

Allo Patrice, I do hope you make the fretted/fretless a production model. If the fretted neck were scalloped this would be even better. At this stage, im heavily in the design process of having to get something custom built and may have to use the Surfreter neck, since you currently don't do custom projects :)I love my surfreter so much, its the only guitar i play now ( other instruments are sarod and oud) - I am all fretless, all the time

Do you have some videos of you playing on your surfretter ?z.guitarfreak wrote:Allo Patrice, I do hope you make the fretted/fretless a production model.
