Wat strings do you use?
Hi,I wondered what strings Vigier guitarists use. I need new ones on my Vigier Indus en liked the Vigier Custom Lite (009 - 011 - 016 - 026 -036 - 046) that were on it.These strings have been impossible to buy in The Netherlands so far. I've contacted the distributor in my country, but they (ofcourse) don't sell to individuals. So I ordered them via a music store, but they haven't been able to get them for me either. So I bought this D'Addario set (009 - 011 - 016 - 024 - 032 - 042 ) and assume it will be ok. Will I need to adjust intonation? What about a 010 gauge?

I know that we have supplied strings to Voerman our distributor, so you must be able to get them now.
I personally use Elixir or D'Addario strings - 10-52...You may have to adjust the intonation and / or action slightly for different string makes and gauges (or for personal preference) but that's about it. I find the way a Vigier comes from the factory set up already all you have to do is take it out the case, plug in and rock out!!...with a Vigier there is no need to spend time tweaking the neck for ages leaving lots of time to get on and play!!megalodon wrote:Hi,I wondered what strings Vigier guitarists use.

Strings are important, do not neglect them. Remember that the are first in the sound chain, therefore if you start bad, you may end bad:=). D'Addario is a good brand, Ernie ball, is in term of sound, for my opinion, better. Elixir last long but the sound is poor due to the coating, some people like it, I don't.

Jimi, stay with your Ernie Ball, you are well set. For me the best string company.

Buy Ernie Ball hybrids(my guitar came too with those gauges)... those with the orange cover... they sound awesome... if you're not convinced just note that on a receipt from the sixties they found that JIMI used Ernie Ball... I saw a picture of that receipt with his signature... it was put in a magazine by Ernie Ball company and next to them it was written... "JIMI USED THEM"... nothing else to say.

I have a thing for light strings.I mostly use D'addario '9s, but have guitars with Fender, Martin, DR and Ernie ball strings as well; I guess I have a hard time making up my mind when it comes which brand is best.
Thanks for the replies. Well, I just put on 0.10 custom gauge Ernie Ball strings that I still had lying around, with the yellow cover. Perhaps I should check out the orange cover strings too.Anyway, I only adjusted the tremolo because the thicker strings pulled it forward. I tightened the screws of the springs and now the guitar is fine. That was pretty easy
I own an Indus about 3 years now. I was using mostly ernie ball's but also tried dean markley ,daddario,sit....Recently i put on Thomastik infeld Bebop series 11-47 . They don't come in lighter gauge. They supposed to be jazz strings but they are round wound. I can tell you just that: WOW. Its a piano like feel full of harmonics. Also softend the sound on positions 1 and 5 (humbucker sound). The company is not new. is famous making violin strings but also jazz guitars strings. 90% of jazz guitarists uses them. I see now that have rock series and they are in my future plans and also i intend to use galli strings some day which is a company that i like.
