My father, Georges Vigier past away on Thursday July 25th at 4:40 p.m.In spite of the sadness that I feel, I wish to thank him for the important contribution he made to Vigier Guitars. He believed in me when everyone was predicting the collapse of my project and was naturally there for me to help when things were hard and there when things got better. In 1980, he participated in my first trade show. He completely made the booth and many more afterwards. Despite the fact that he was ill, he came to the last trade show in Paris and as usual was happy and proud to see the success of our guitars. (see photo)In his private life he built homes. He enjoyed designing and constructing and used these talents to build and create in-house machines for Vigier, the first workshop in 1980 and supervised the construction of our last factory in 2001.He was not a guitarist, but understood how guitars work. From the conception of the first tremolo mounted on ball bearings to the last one for the Excalibur or to Ron Thal's Foot guitar system so the wings open when he pushes on the tremolo, he showed how creative he was.One of his major contributions for manufacturing was the machinery that tools our fingerboards at 1/100 of a millimetre. For Vigier owners, know that until recently he manufactured your guitar's electronic. I wanted to make this text short, so I cannot enumerate everything he did in 27 years for Vigier. What he did was done with altruism, (thousands of hours) and with modesty. Always trusting and respecting my choices.I will miss him terribly along with the complicity we had together.I will be forever thankful to him for understanding very early on my passion for guitars.Patrice Vigier

Patrice,
You have my deepest sympathies. He sounds like a very special man, and remember that even though he may be gone, he will live on in every fine instrument you build, as well as in you and your children.
peace,
Mike Keller
