Hello, just wanted to check if anyone here had changed the volume and tone pots on their Vigier Shawn Lane to 500K.
Would be interested to hear about pros and cons sound wise and if this was a recommended upgrade.
Cheers

It’s only an upgrade if you know you prefer 500k pots - No pros or cons. It seems many SL owners find the Air Classic and 1M volume pot to be too far from their personal tastes; so replacing the pickups and pots seems to be a common mod. If you find yourself preferring the sound of a different superstrat to your SL, go ahead and try those guts in the SL.
Thank you for the comment
I think I'll be keeping everything stock. I do find the range of tones from the 1meg pots quite nice.
A lot of bite at 10 on the volume pot but as soon as rolled off there is a huge range of nice sounds (same for the tone pot).

Remember that you can also modify the taper and behavior of the stock pots through experimenting with treble bleed values, 50s wiring, etc. - Unless you’re specifically wanting to avoid modifying from stock unless necessary.

If I recall: CTS, full size, solid shaft, logarithmic taper would be exact replacements. Pots aren’t plug-and-play, though - unless you’re using a solderless kit from a company such as Mad Hatter or something. The unbranded 500k and 250k push-push split shaft pots I put in my SL fit just fine - I had to solder the wires, all the same.MAS14 wrote: HI, I have the same needs ! I want to replace the 1M pots by 500k because even after changing pickups the sound is too harsh for my taste, do you know wich reference of 500k pot would be suitable for the shawnlane for plug and play please ?
