i have a question to ask
when this system was firstly introduced and how succesful was ? popularity but also stability
did it change over the years and were there any necks that bend?
my interest is purely academic

It was introduced in 1988 on our 5 string bass.
Is it very reliable ? YES
Is it 100% reliable ? NO, only 99,95% of the time, we are living on earth, sometime there are problems, even space rockets fall :=)
