Hi.
I currently use Dean Markley Blue Steel Extra Light strings in my Vigier Excess bass.
I would like to try the Ernie Ball Stainless Steel Extra Slinky strings.
The gauges are:
Dean Markley Blue Steel Extra Light (http://www.deanmarkley.com/Strings/Bass/BlueSteelBa.shtml)Gauges: .040 .055 .075 .095
Ernie Ball Stainless Steel Extra Slinky (http://www.ernieball.com/products/category-521-Stainless-Steel)Gauges: .040 .060 .070 .095
There is a small difference between these two gauges. Should I redo intonation or it is not necessary since it is a small difference?
What strings do you think are better: Dean Markley or Ernie Ball? Other options?
Regards.

I would always check the intonation - even when I swap strings guages like for like between different brands, it is good practice for that 'perfect' tuning! As for the difference between the strings, I let someone who is a dedicated bass player and may have experienced between both brands answer that.

Hey... personally I've always liked Ernie Ball, but I have no real experience with Dean Markley. In any event, I'm with Ben, you should always recheck your intonation when you swap out gauges or brands.

On a rate from 0 to 10Dean Marley 3Ernie Ball 10So for Dean Markley, pass your way, this is not a good brand, with them it is not possible, most of the time, to make a correct intonation.
