Replacement PIckguard For Excalibur Original
Hey all, i am wanting to put some new Seymour Duncans into my Vigier Excalibur Original H/S/H and the main problem i found was on the pick guard. The treble side of the pickup has 2 screws going through the pick guard and the humbuckers i want to install only have one screw hole. The main problem is that i have a gold mirror pick guard and i do not want to have to drill through the pick guard to make space for the screw to install the pickup, but also the problem of snapping the pick guard due to the fact i would have to drill a new hole in between the 2 existing screwholes.I was wondering whether i could purchase a replacement gold mirror pickguard but that has been made with one screw hole in the pick guard on the treble side of both humbuckers.

I wonder if you can order Duncans with a 3 screw ( 2 plus 1 ) baseplate ?I have a Caparison horus with similar problem - only the pickups are body mounted, not thru a scratchplate
well i have figured out the trem buckers come with the baseplate with 3 holes in, but neck pickups only seem to have one hole in. So ideally the bridge pickup would be fine but getting a neck pickup with 3 holes would not be possible i don't think. I suppose i could put a trem bucker in the neck but then the spacing might be a little off wouldn't it?
Have you contacted Seymour Duncan directly and asked? They have a custom shop, and might charge you a couple extra dollars (or euro, or whatever), but they might be accommodating. I would definitely hold off on drilling an extra hole in the pickguard, at least until Patrice chimes in. Unfortunately, everyone in France is on holiday until the end of the month.

Hi - I already tried contacting SD re my Caparison. Unless the stock pickup has a 3 hole plate ....... Unfortunately we can only use our stock baseplate. You would have tomodify how the pickup is mounted in your guitar. I'm sorry about that. Best, Scott MarceauSales / Customer ServiceSeymour Duncan
Oh bummer... OP: I'm supposed to speak with Patrice later today, and I'll ask about the possibility (and cost) of a replacement pickguard with the holes you need.Dna-yay wrote:Have you contacted Seymour Duncan directly and asked? I Guess another option may be to create an extra plate under or over the pickup "ear" and screw this to the existing plate using the single hole in the std plate?
I think that might be the only solution, unless i was to put a trembucker in the neck, but then the pole's would be a little off. I shall have to try and see how far they are off and whether it affect's the sound.Dna-yay wrote:I Guess another option may be to create an extra plate under or over the pickup "ear" and screw this to the existing plate using the single hole in the std plate?

If you change the bridge pickup you should use a Seymour Duncan from the TB series (F spacing), they are drilled for 6 screws and fit our pickguards. If you replace the neck pickup you must use the standard series and therefore you have no other alternative than to drill 2mm the base of the pickup to add the two missing holes and make the thread with a 2,5 mm tool.
