Are there any plans to bring back the Vigier Arpege Guitar? That guitar was a work of art. They're certainly not easy to find on the used market. I've wanted one since I first saw the ads in Guitar Player magazine around 1988. In fact, I still have the sales brochure and price list mailed to me back in 1988. Would love to find a used one in black, much like the one (I believe a 1986 model) in a picture that I believe was posted by Dr. Boost on one of the forums here.By the way, how does one designate an Arpege I, II and III? I know that it appears the III has the Vigier logo on the body. Is that always the case with gen. III? When did Vigier stop offering the Arpege? Why do they still offer the Marilyn, but not the Arpege or Passion.
Wanted: Vigier Arpege Guitar (preferably a mid 80s model)

Hi. I probably would not sell, but if you'll forgive me just trying to figure out some sort of value on mine, I'd appreciate if you could give me a ballpark figure what you think you might pay for it.It's a 1986 Arpege II. serial 031. Color ice blue. Original pickups and tuners. Chrome on bridge has a crack. center of headstock around the "V" logo has cracks in finish with some discoloration. I could send pictures if you really want to see.
O.K. I won't be able to post pix till tuesday. I have someone looking into repairs on the "v" logo issues. I'm probably going to make a new bridge piece from polished stainless (I'm a machinist), Keeping the old one too, just to have the original.
As far as general ballpark value I have never seen an Arpege II or III for sale on the used market. I have seen a few Passion IIs and IIIs go for generally around 1400 Euros on EBay. I've seen one Arpege I on Ebay some time ago, but can't remember at what price it sold. I think it may be been around 1500 Euros. In general, the Arpege did cost a bit more than the Passion at that time. I actually still have the price book from 1988 when I looked into purchasing one. This would have been the US list price though. I've thought about scanning the Sales Brochure and Price Book and uploading them here for those interested in some nostalgia. The Sales Brochure is actually quite nice with good pictures and all the options described. I currently have a GV (Wood 1st gen.) and love it, but I really would like an Arpege II or III.
Thanks for posting the pictures. I have seen that bridge issue on other Arpege's. Must be a stress fracture? Do you use, or still have, the tremolo bar? I think the guitar would look fine with the black bridge replacement Patrice suggested.Hard to see what's going on with the Headstock. The picture is blurry. Is that just cosmetic? Did the finish get scratched up there and is that what started the problem? How's the condition of the zero fret, and the other frets in general? Has the zero fret ever been changed? Did you buy the guitar new in '86?
on the head there are cracks through the finish, and the discoloration is underneath the clear coat. I do have the tremolo bar. I don't use it, other than fooling around. Sometimes i just lean my right hand, or one finger, on the bridge for tremolo.I did not buy it new. I am the second owner. I was told by the first owner that this one was used as a demo by Patrice. laying it across 2 chairs, jumping on the neck, then playing it to show it did not even lose tune.I have told a joke that the damage to the head and bridge was all that Pete Townshend was able to do to it.
HiI am considering selling my Vigier Arpege. It is from the 90th century, it has full neck runs through it all, and neck are of carbon. Great guitar. Looks like the same as Stanley Jordan uses some of his concerts.I've used it with the midi-in microphone as well.Have never played so good guitar ever, but most frequently acoustic guitar nowadays, unfortunatelly.Have seen this forum today. Useful. Will spend a few days with my Vigier to see if this is what I want. Selling, that is.I think this is very similiar to my music, but will use my own pictures if nessesary. https://picasaweb.google.com/116546287342570206074/NyligOppdatert03?authkey=Gv1sRgCLyQh__m7JPw3QE#5689240576033223970
Hi OleFoss,
That is a bit above my price range, but I will think about a price that I can pay and get back to you.
Is there any way that you could post some more pictures of it on the forum so I can get a better idea of the condition that it is in?
Thanks.

Hello
Yes, I can send you more pictures. A bit busy these days, but I will.
Hope we can end up with a price, but I have no hurry. I picked it up two weeks ago, because I have used my Strat a lot the last two years, and a couple of acoustic guitars as well.
But I followed a few tips adjusting the Vigier, and at these moment I really prefere using it.
I rather keep it than selling it too cheap. Unfortunately I have a weakness, and that is that I like to change guitars now and then. So who knows what I will do in six months?
Keep in touch!
Ole

Hi Ole,
I'm sorry for getting back to you so late but I've been very busy recently as well. Thank you so much for agreeing to send me some more pictures of the guitar. You can email the pictures to me at: fangmeister515@gmail.com. From the one picture that you had on the forum before, the guitar looks to be in beautiful condition! I hope that we can settle on a price as well and I will definitely think about your first offer of 1200 Euro. Does that offer still stand?

Hi Ole,
Thank you for posting more pictures, they are great!
If you want to send anything to my email address you can email me at: fangmeister515@gmail.com.
I was just wondering about some specifics of the guitar. Is everything in working condition on the guitar and does it play well? And how much would you say it weighs?
Thank you very much,
Alex
