Hi All, I was at the guitar show today in Birmingham and my main intention (apart from looking for a new acoustic) was to head over to Vigier , Ive known of them for years now but never quite got round to testing one out, over the last year or so i've been heading back towards Ibanez after selling a few Musicman's ( I met Patrice at one of the Musicman get togethers in London). Anyhow, I popped over to the stand and was confronted by a very nice chap named Ben who let me play an excallibur. WOW is all I can say, well not quite just WOW, more along the lines of, right i'm now going to have to sell a load of said Ibanez's and do some saving cause this guitar blew me away!
I'm sure this is nothing new to those on the forum, but everything was amazing about this guitar! I tested it acoustically to start with as Ben was just showing a guy an acoustic and wanted him to have a chance before he cranked the amp up for me, I thought it was nice and ringing, then plugged in it was just so versatile!
So after wittering on here, i best had go calculating what i need to sell!........
David
New and just been to the guitar show in Brum
David, I know exactly what you mean! Right now I also am working out what to sell to buy a Retro 54....A guy I know is about 50 yrs old ad has a PRS, a 70s strat and 70s Gibson, and a few other nice guitars. He said to me that my little Vigier Indus is the best guitar he ever played, and of course I agree! He said "this neck is a revelation" and that was my reaction too, perhaps much like yours? I always spread the word about Vigier (at jam nights and gigs and more), and everyone who tries mine loves them. I find they leave everything else in the shade.
Hi David,
Welcome to the boards and thank you for your kind words.
I am glad that you were not disappointed with your 'hands-on' test drive
of the Excalibur - if you need any further assistance or information do
not hesitate to ask and I will be more than happy to help.
What did you think of the show? From my perspective it was really
positive to meet so many smiling people, proving that music is very much
alive and 'rocking' in the Birmingham area!!!

Nickeroo, Yes you are correct it was the neck that got me and the low action ( i usually hate low actions), the tones were awesome!
Ben, No probs! you were very accommodating and were expert in level matching on the amp so i didnt blast any neighbouring stands!
The show was OK, i've never been the venue before. I more than appreciated the fact that you bothered to turn up! some other brands were noticeable by their absence (maybe waiting for guitar nation), not any brands that i would miss (guitar wise anyhow).
It did have a good atmosphere though , the last Music Live event seemed to be full of very miserable people, probably in part to the forever spiralling car parking at the NEC and the general decline of it (DJ stuff appearing too!)
I'm glad I went, the show was busy enough not to look empty but not so busy as you couldn't get near to stand. Could have done with some tables and chairs though in the entrance bit though to go with the indian food part! but that is nit picking!
Oh look out for the post over the next few days Ben.

Hi David,
I received your package - thank you!!! I have a long
drive to the Newcastle Guitar Show so this will keep me company. I also saw
your email regarding prices and I will get this info over to you
(probably next week or the week after) when I have finished the
Newcastle show and the London Bass shows.

Ah, ah, your story made me laugh?..!!!!
I only went to the music shop to try some fender to decide on which model I would then try to hunt in the used market. I must confess that I never had the intention of buying from them new.
I then made the mistake of trying my Vigier Expert Retro 54. Playing the fender before and after, they didn?t compare well at all?. USA standard, Deluxe, signature models?..
None of them compared well. Which left me in a bit of a quandary?.. I had to save quite a bit of cash to get that Vigier?.!!!! I did though, and am so happy about it.
A truly exceptional guitar.

I like to read this has it makes us think that we do not work for nothing that some musicians are open minded (or open eared)Stockden wrote:Ah, ah, your story made me laugh?..!!!! There's no doubting you guys do something right.
Let's put it that way - I had to refuse to try the GV Wood for fear of liking it veeeery much. I have no doubt I would have. It was very expensive and my track record when trying excellent gear isn't too good.....
As show my Orange Rockerverb 50 & Vigier Expert Retro 54 acquisition....

Your choice of Orange is excellent, we distribute this amplifiers in France and are more than happy and proud to do it.
