Hi Everyone!
I'm new to the forum and Vigier guitars.  I bought a used 2010 Excalibur Special and want to find the specs on it.  My serial number is 100070.  I researched a bit and found that it has the 2011 Tremolo Bridge, but I'm curious about the pickups and frets.  The frets look and feel like stainless steel, but I read here recently that SS came later.   I'm certian they're not nickle based on a recent refret of my Ibanez.  Any info would be great.
Thanks,
Slim

I think pickups are the same DiMarzios they use today. Never heard they've changed those over the years.
About the frets ... that should be answered by Vigier themselves I guess. As you mention, they say from 2011 all models have SS frets, ... a bit vague info IMO.
I've tried a few times to research/ask but seems they don't share a 100% accurate record of which guitar (serial number) of each model started with SS frets. If this thread sheds some light on that, that would be great for all the Vigier owners and fans.
p.s. congrats for the new guitar, it's a stunner!

Thanks Yuri,
A guitar tech I use here in Boston is almost certian this guitar has nickel frets (based on the wear and color).  Still not definitive, but based on this (and what I found here) it’s safe to assume that SS frets start with 2011 models.

Those are nickel frets! We started stainless after 2010/2011. And the pickups should be the exact same DiMarzios we use now.

Hello,

I found this post while searching for stainless steel frets on the forum.
I've acquired a Shawn Lane Vigier 2007 model.  Just to clarify, does the frets on the 2007 model have nickel frets?
I've attached a photo as reference.

You can tell as Nickel frets age they tend to have a tarnish/greenish tint - as shown in your picture, where as Stainless Steel stays more 'brilliant' over time. In 2007 we still used Nickel frets.

Thanks!  I'm planning to upgrade the frets on my 2007 SL model.  I'll send you a private message for some queries.
