Hi everyone. I have just bought a rather beautiful Excess 5 bass and just love it. I wonder if anyone can help me please? Firtsly, I have no idea what the strings are and what the guage of them are. Anyone know? Secondly, if I wanted to put heavier gauge strings on the bass, will the neck move? I love the action just the way it is and am worried that if I put heavier gauge strings on, the neck will move.
Sorry if this sounds rather silly but, I Have never had a bass without a truss rod. Any help and advice would be so appreciated. Thanks you in advance.
Cheers,
Matt :)

Hi Matt - Ben here, as discussed strings on the phone, I saw your question regarding the neck and thought I should answer this for you too...
I can tell you that the neck is very stable and will not move - despite putting heavier (or lighter) gauge strings.
Hope that helps...any other q's drop me a line...and welcome to Vigier, enjoy your new bass!!!

Hi Ben, thanks so much for the reply here and on the telephone. It is greatly appreciated. As discussed, I'm going to stick to the gauge already on my bass as it is set up perfectly but, it is good to know that I can go up a gauge without a worry.
Also, thanks for welcoming me. I have wanted a Vigier for ages and the one I bought from Bass Direct has been taunting me for 2 years. Everytime I went in I wanted it and after finally going through Mike Lull, Fender US, Dingwall, Yamaha, Musicman etc, I have finally ended up with the bass I have wanted. It is amazing in everyway. Just a shame that 1) it's taken me this long to get here and 2) it came with a ding already in the body but, that's the life of a bass that has been in a shop for a little while. Either way, I cannot wait to play it live and on the up and coming albums I have ready to record.
Thanks again and catch you soon.
Cheers,
Matt
PS My buddy Darren Charles from Godsticks has been on saying that he has now bought a 7 string from you. Happy days :)
