Hello to the forum, I have recently acquired what I think is a Passion 5 string.  I bought it from Derek Forbes of Simple Minds/Propaganda who said that it was made for him as a Vigier endorsee back in 1990.  It originally had his name on the body but he later had it painted in a distinctive light blue for the 1998 Simple Minds tour.  He can be seen playing it here on the National Lottery BBC show:

I must say it is in the most fantastic playing bass I have ever had the pleasure to own!  It has the number 072 on the headstock.  I would be interested to know if there is any history on this instrument, its specification etc?
Also, when the volume control is turned to max there seems to be a notable hum.  I've had it tested by my local luthier who described it as 'flawless' so I'm presuming that the hum is just the way it is?  If this is the case can anyone say how I can eliminate it when playing live?  Should I run it at half-volume (when the hum is not notable)?  Or is there something wrong with it?
I'm very excited to be part of the Vigier community - fantastic instruments!

Thank you Patrice and thank you also for your previous personal reply.  I'm glad to hear that Derek got such a great sound out of the guitar - rest assured that it is still being very actively used!  I'd be interested to hear any other owners' views on how much hum is normal from these single coil pick-ups.
