Pickups Change

Hello.
I was thinking about changing the original pickups and try EMG. Do you know what is the active pickup EMG model/s that can be used in the Vigier Excess Original bass? Maybe any of these?

I do not know... size of the Vigier pickups is special

I have seen that the new Excess bass comes with the new Delano pickups. Could I change the Benedetti pickups of my Vigier Excess Original 4 string bass with those Delano pickups? Will they fit in my model? What is the exact model of the Delano pickups?

Only the Excess 5 comes with Delano, the Excess 4 still has Benedetti, but they are now single coils humbuckers.

In fact I want to change the pickups / preamp because my Vigier Excess distorts when the pickups are close to the strings. In order to avoid distortion I have to lower the pickups and play softly.
It seems that the output of the pickups is so strong that distorts the internal preamp.
I have another Vigier Excess that does not have that problem and the pickups are very close to the strings (more comfortable for me), and they are not noisier as the one with the distortion problem. This bass has less output that the one that distorts, and has a lot of treble and high end even when the treble knob is little raised.
I have checked battery, cables, amps, ... The only things left to check are pickups / preamp. This was the reason of my question.
Any suggestion / recommendation?

Maybe a problem with the preamp, the two basses should sound the same!

It is the preamp that makes distorsion, not the pickup :=)
A preamp never (rarely) breaks, you should send it to us to test.

Can also be something to do with the battery? I have tried new batteries and the result is the same. However I have seen that the new Excess basses (the ones that don't have a pickguard) have 2 batteries, 18V instead of 9V like my bass.
What is the advantage of having 2 batteries? Can this help to avoid distortion?

Yes two batteries can avoid distorsion on the lower notes (on the B string) if they are played hard.
