Maple fretboard care, setup questions

Hi, I have an excalibur special w/maple fretboard, had it a while but only started using it recently. What products are recommend for cleaning, conditioning and preventing dirt on the fretboard? Mine feels a little dry, can feel friction against my finger when bending. The FAQ mentions glass cleaner and white spirit, are these still recommended safe for maple or is there a specialist guitar product recommended like dunlop fretboard conditioner?
I'm also having a problem with bends on the low frets, if I try to bend the B, E strings anywhere below the 6 fret, because the action and radius is so low my bending finger constantly catches the strings above. ie, If I bend the high e on the 5th fret, my finger with always catch the b string on the same fret. Raising the action obviously helps but it highers the action too high higher up the fretboard. Any tips for this? Perhaps it's a technique issue rather than a set up one?
And is this picture indicative of how the trem system should fit against the body? http://www.vigierguitars.net/gcatalog/ive6stre.htm slightly raised to allow uplift rather than parallel with the body?
