A local music store has a used Passion 4 string bass in stock. They state the serial number is 122. I looked through the database and can't find a Passion bass in there with this serial number. I see there is a Passion 5 with this serial number, but does that refer to a 5 string or 5th generation? I'm just trying to get a sense of the age of this bass. I'm guessing it's mid-80s as it has the 100% carbon fibre neck. It's kind of beat up, but I played it and it really plays and sounds great and can get such a variety of great sounds. For some reason, one of the owners modified the placement of the neck pickup, but it still sounded good and it has the original Benedettis from what I can tell. I'm a guitar player (the proud owner of a GV Wood that I love the more I play) and am looking to replace the bass I use for demos. Would love to make it a Vigier, but can't afford a new one so this would be great.

Sorry nobody answered your postThe serial number of this bass does not show in the list, therefore it is from before 1986. It is probably a Passion bass with a wood neck.To know the date you have to remove the treble pickup it is indicated in the cavity.

Thank you. No problem on the delayed response. It was not urgent. I actually checked the bass out and it does have the 100% carbon fibre neck. Could it still be pre-1986?Here's a link to it:http://www.musicgoroundboston.com/detail.aspx?id=945213

Yes it is possible. The only "problem" on the bass you are showing is that the bass pickup is not in its original place and there is the original cavity covered by a plastic plate.

Yes. The sales person was very honest and upfront that the bass had been modified there. It played and sounded really great, but did appear to need a new nut and possibly some re-fretting.
