Hi All!Very recently bought a brand new Vigier Expert Retro 54!I didn't know one thing about Vigier to be honest (a shame considering I'm french.... ).... Oh my, those smileys are HUGE!!!, ahem, but when I played it next to USA standard, special & deluxe stratocaster, there was no choice left reallly!!!!! It really made the fender sound bland and boring - so well done Vigier!!!Anyway - my new guitar had clearly been in the shop quite a while - not complaining as I've been able to haggle a superb price on it, but it needs a good clean. wich brings me to my 3 questions:- what finish do I have on that Vigier? Retro red colour with satin finish flamed maple neck. Is it safe to clean it with nitrocellulose type cleaner & polish? or is that gonna shine up the neck?- the serial number on my guitar is 060241 - what can I make of that? when was it manufactured?- strap locks: the very long screw is too wide for the shaller strap locks I've used on my Les Paul & my Made In Japan Aria Pro 2. What brand of strap locks will fit in with the screw? Hope to be able to add some pictures laters - I'm waiting for new strings so I can give it a total clean up and set up before to take the piccies......... I think it may well be the beginning of a long love story!!!!!! Antoine

Hi Antoine, Congratulations on your first Vigier, I hope that your Expert brings you much enjoyment and inspires your playing even further. I personally love the Retro 54 and it's vibe - I have one of these as well. To answer your questions here I go...You can use any normal guitar polish (or window cleaner) to bring your guitar back to a loving shine!!For the serial number you can check on the main Vigier home page right hand side...date my guitar...this will help to verify the date your guitar was 'born'.As for strap locks Schaller strap locks will work, just use the screw from the Schaller strap lock and all will be fine - I too use Schaller strap locks on all my Vigier's with no problem at all.I hope that helps...post some pics when you get them, it would be great to see your lovely new Retro 54!!!

Thanx a lot for the info Ben!!!!!So my guitar was born in 2006 and purchased new in may 2010???? That one really had been in the shop quite a while!!!!!Also explains why the neck was so manky - all nice and clean now!So, is the vibrato going to be a ball bearing mounted vibrato too??? or is it the previous model?Edit:What about the nut? Is it the teflon nut? Just read in the press release that the teflon nut was rolled out across all models in 2008 I think? So what would be my nut material? It is black if that helps at all???

What shop did you buy this from...We did not start in the UK until 2007 - although the guitar was 'born' in 2006, it may not have been completed till 2007, then possibly ordered and delivered late that year, whatever you are now a proud owner of a beautiful Vigier!! The Teflon nut was not on our guitars in 2006/07, the Tremolo will be the 2010 pivoting on needles bearings. Looking forward to seeing some pictures!!

Bought it at the music room in lincoln. To be honest, they were very good about it, let me try it as mayn times as I wanted to (quite a few as well!!!!), but I obivously wasn't the 1st one to try it as the pick guard does show some scratching and markings which is a bit of a shame, but I guess would have happened anyway after I'd play it for a while. Still getting to discover it, but I'm really liking it!!!!!!!!

Mmhh. I'm struggling to add pics to this thread - how am I to go about it? On other forums I add them from photobucket, here it doesn't seem to work. The direct upload option at the bottom doesn't work either. Here's my photobucket link to see them anyway:http://s965.photobucket.com/albums/ae132/kimaimesuiv/Vigier%20Expert%20Retro%2054/

Awesome Expert!!! The nut is a graphite nut. I have updated the pictures - what to do is highlight the text, click the pictures link and then past in the url, html does not work in the forums.

What exactly is the URL code please??? In any case, thank you very much for putting them in my previous post Ben. Indeed, it's a very nice guitar, I absolutely love it - it's a shame the day was almost too sunny, the neck doesn't quite show just how lovely its flame is!!!!!!Edit:I'm even further confused now - tried to put on piccies this afternoon again, didn't work, log back on before to go to bed and it then works....???

As I was setting up my Expert, I unscrewed the neck from the body - the neck & body are stamped May/June 2006, as swell as the neck plate indicating it was an 2006. So that guitar probably had been in the shop for a while after the factory!!!!!Still love it - it's a different vibe from my Les Paul, that's for sure!!!!! :)And thanx for the schaller strap lock tip, it's now * and I can rock it without a problem!!!!!
