new vigier - excalibur ultra (ruby, dimarzios) v shawn lane

apologies to all vigier experts for this rather dumb question.  To date, I have played Ibanez and want to move to something shreddy but a bit more exclusive.  I've tried a bunch of different excalibur ultras and really like them a lot.  I've tried them against tom anderson, suhr and tyler - the usual suspects.  I'm pretty settled on this except I can't find a shawn lane for sale in the Uk, which is the final other possibility.  I know the shawn lane neck is flat and has formidable action apparently.  Basically, is it possible to set up an Ultra to have as low action as the shawn lane?  are there any other major differences (asside from flat neck, hollow chamber and scratchplay)?
I'm into paul gilbert and similar shreddy stuff.

Hi Ian,            I know that a couple of our UK dealers have the Shawn Lane model in stock, or are currently waiting delivery.    You have covered most of the differences already. The pickups fixed to the body on the Ultra, while they are fixed to the pickguard on the Shawn Lane (and the body chambered to accommodate this. The Shawn Lane has no radius, this makes the action the lowest on all of our guitars. We do set our action low on our guitars anyway, but the Shawn Lane is that little bit lower. Also the Shawn Lane has a shorter scale length (24.8") compared to the Ultra (25.6").    I will email you this information as well.
