CShawn Lane Vigier sounds thin? Pickup change?
If you're about to swap pickups, I made a thread about it since there are potential difficulties doing it in a Vigier. Read it and you may have some help:

<t>Thanks! <br/> Ok so the weight difference is the maple top/phenowood and the price difference is basically the finish... <br/> Wood is definitely the most tempting one regarding looks, but Metal is clearly most bang for the buck since it's so much cheaper. I'm not so keen on DiMarzio ...

Vigier Escalibur special Bridge adjustments
<t>I just know that my Shawn Lane and the Bumblefoot signature is setup as dive only from factory. The others i don't know about.<br/> Still, i think you should lower the trem as much as possible while still having a nice tone without buzz. Then measure the action on 12th fret, 1st and 6th ...

<t>Without being an expert on thios matter, I can't imagine a trem set to dive only would effect the string action being more even across the board?<br/> I mean, you seem to have plenty of headroom to adjust the height of the trem up and down.<br/> Did you buy it used or new? Awkward if the ...

NAMM 2016 PREVIEW: One Neck to Rule Them All
<r>I could do another test for you here in the very North of Sweden. We've had around -35 degrees Celsius here all week, that's about - 31 Fahrenheit. Last night was a peak down to - 41 C. (-42F)<br/> I could leave my Shawn Lane out one night if you guarantee it won't get hurt? I also ...

<t>Hi!<br/> I've found the obvious differences between Wood, Rock and Metal like rosewood board on 2 of them, different pickups and colors, a maple top on the Wood model. But are there any other differences, like in body thickness?<br/> I'm thinking since thery have different weight there ...

<t>Hi!<br/> So yesterday was the day for changing pickups in my Shawn Lane model. I came across a couple of difficulties and thought I'd share it here, maybe it'll help someone else planning to do the same.<br/> I swapped both humbuckers, not the middle single coil. The Air Classics are a ...

<t>Yeah, I hope they will meet the huge expectations I have on them.<br/> I never tried Suhr pickups but I've been curious for a set of Aldrich pups. A favourite pickup I have is the Tom Anderson HN3 for the bridge. Plenty of mids in the right frequencies while retaining good, tight lows and ...

<t>Yeah, 500k pots will remove some treble.<br/> I didn't find the Air Classics lack body/bass though? I thought they were pretty well balanced for the guitar, but since I like to play "rockier" stuff than what Shawn Lane did I do find them too weak for my taste. The guitar is on the brighter ...

<t>More powerful pickups won't automatically give you a thicker tone.<br/> DiMarzio Air Classics are definitely not the thinnest pickups either. According to the DiMarzio tone chart they are pretty even across the tone spectra. But there are thicker pickups out there, for DiMarzio, Tone Zone ...

Great! I was confused since there's been some talk of having to drill new holes. But i understand that's the case if you put in another brand beside DiMarzio since pup plates are much wider. Replacing with DiMarzios is a piece of cake then!

<t>Great Ben, thanks!<br/> Just a clarification: I thought that the DiMarzio pickups mounted on the Vigier had plates specially made for Vigier with 2 holes on the treble side?<br/> Are you saying they are really normal DiMarzio pickups with normal plates, and that Vigier makes a smaller plate ...

Yeah, even if no vigier staff is around someone here must have changed pickups before and can tell us about this.

Change pickups on a Shawn Lane?
<t>Hi!<br/> The Vigiers with pickguard have 3 mounting holes for each humbucker, while normal humbuckers have only 2 (1 each side).<br/> My understanding was that if I need to replace pickups I need to either:<br/> a) drill 2 new holes of the treble side on the pup plate.<br/> b) Or, if I use ...
