Some exposure for Vigier
<t>Should have mentioned this is the first official release from GNR (not just video) since the Chinese Democracy album in Nov 2008!!! And as the packaging says first official live concert film since 1992 (although the UYI era's got re-released on DVD not too many years ago). Not that music DVDs ...

Some exposure for Vigier
this FINALLY landed on my door mat today!!
Had to import it from US (I'm in UK). Chances of this getting released anywhere else are slim I reckon haha (like anything with GNR!!!!).
Features Ron Thal of course playing Vigier on more-or-less every track

Zero Fret... the good/bad/ugly?
<t>Nice one DJ look forward to it.One thing I've read as a possiblity to extended the life of a zero fret is to flip it over. It was either on this forum or another. What do you think about that Ben/DJ? I possibly see the merrit - the thinking being the treble strings will possibly "cut-in ...

<r><QUOTE author="Funkjazzaxe"><s>[quote="Funkjazzaxe"]</s> I'm thinking about making a video in the next couple weeks showing exactly how to do this. One of the most frequent questions I field when I explain the neck situation is "what happens when I change string guage?" the short answer is ...

Drop Tuning
<r><QUOTE author="Melodic Shred Rocks!"><s>[quote="Melodic Shred Rocks!"]</s> Drop tunings are fine. I play in a half step down dropping the 6th string to C# A# and G# I use 10- 52's and have a bigger top nut, so the grooves take the larger strings. I've put an extra spring in the back so ...

Drop Tuning
<t>RE: Ben and joesotd - so 10-52s definitely hold up ok for tunings in the region of "Drop B" or "Drop C" for you guys???? And I'm not talking about 'standard' tuning with the low E tuned down only (some people refer to these tunings in the literal sense like that) - I'm talking ...

Vigier GV Wood/Rock vs. Gibson Les Paul
<r>Also just looking back about what you said about Bumble (I'm a very big GNR fan) - your not wrong in assuming there is a lot more at play here - his (incredible) technique/playing style and other gear all play a big part in his sound. You will be able to find pro-shot vids on youtube from ...

<t>Hey man. See my thoughts/reviews I just posted in the thread entitled "thank you" My main setup (until yesterday haha!) is a Gibson LP Standard 2003 through a Marshall JVM410H and 1960A cab. I tend to ride the lows (bass and resonance) at high levels and my treble and presence very low and mid ...
