Re: Re fret
Hey! There's no real benefit to a plek on our instruments. If you need a refret, I can sell you a set of frets and any reputable luthier should be able to replace them for you. Email me at dj@vigierguitars.com and I'll get you sorted!

Re: Questions about the 2014 Expert Retro 54 hardtail I just bought
Next size is 10-52 you have the info in the FAQ here so you need the nut with 2 dots Emma site is not accurate, the nut 11-52 does not exist... Thank you. I'm in the US. Where would I order the nut with 2 dots? For online ordering, if that's what turns out to be best, what is it actually called? I ...

Re: Floyd vs Vigier Trem Range, Tuning Compensation
Hey there! First, there isn't a huge difference in range when pushing down... you can get the classic "strings go slack" effect on either one. When it comes to pulling up, the 2011 type trem has about a step and a half of pull out of the factory. We pitch them forward slightly, which looks a little ...

Re: Any Vigier owners in/around Chicago?
Hey guys, I wish we had a dealer in the Chicago area, too! Believe me! Until we get one though, all our US dealers ship for free within the US although I can't tell you on an individual basis what the return policies are for each one. I welcome any and all suggestions for new dealers in the Midwest ...

If you want to get really fancy about it, you can actually instally a more typical 1/4" jack in the existing hole by using a forstner bit to tunnel out where the jack is now. I did that to my basses for tou and it's very clean and the jacks never fail. Hope that helps!

Shawn Lane Signature - Thin Sounding?
<t>We use super switches in pretty much everything to allow for maximum flexibility and also to wire the single coil positions in a way to reduce as much 60 cycle hum as possible. So, the previous owner may have been inclined to monkey with it to see what options they had available. Swapping the ...

Shawn Lane Master Nut / Gauge
I second Ben. Give your preferred strings a try before you swap out the nut. They're so soft, they're pretty forgiving. The stock nut is cut 9-46, so usually 10-46 is gravy in there, but if you feel like it's pinching you can swap them out for whatever you need!

I use one of these:
https://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/Tools_by_Job/Tools_for_Electronics_and_Pickups/Jack_The_Gripper.html
It's still not 100% perfect, but if you can get this in the jack and then tighten from inside the cavity it prevents the jack from spinning at least.

Shawn Lane Signature - Thin Sounding?
<t>Did you buy the guitar new or used? Generally the SLs sound pretty warm and thick (because of the pickups and also partly because of the shorter scale.)<br/> We do use an unconventional wiring scheme on all the HSH guitars, I'm wondering if a previous owner may have swapped the switch at ...

GV Wood pickup ring options wanted, pickup change??
<t>I'll have to check with the boss, but I'm not sure the Ambers have the plate mentioned. DiMarzio affixes a little plate to their existing pickups to allow for the three screw mounting. Sometimes you can just take it off and stick it on the new pickup. It's pretty tiny.</t>

GV Wood pickup ring options wanted, pickup change??
<t>Sorry for the delay jumping in here...<br/> With our pickup rings and pickguard alike, usually the best option is to pop a hole in the side that needs one. We use three screws to mount the pickups so you can pitch it forward and back. If you want to replace them, usually you'll need to add a ...

<t>Your distributor should be able to help you. They are ultimately responsible for these kinds of things. The biggest hurdle is whether or not we have the pickguard in stock. If we do, great. If not, you'll need to wait, which can be a drag. Since we don't currently offer the Special in ...

Hey! The routing on the HSS guitars is actually not the same as the same model HSH unfortunately. So as-is, you would only be able to fit single coil sized pickups in the neck position.

We have two trems available. Both have a ton of room in either direction. For me personally, the 2011 is all you could possibly need. Some players like the extra room and sense of security of our Floyd style trem.

Neck Relief Trouble on Shawn Lane Master
<t>The necks don't actually have much "built-in" relief. It's more that they're built to within a specific tolerance. The action should be ridiculously low out of the box. I know some players will adjust their bridges to get it a hair lower. Without touching the strings, what is the ...
