The neck on the new ones stays straight with whatever strings you put on it.

I string my 5 string with 45-130 (G-B) for some shows and 32-95 (high C to low E) for other shows

Never had to adjust anything but intonation at the bridge.

thx for the reply ;)the thing i dont understand : if you play bunch of diffrents opentunes 'piccolo, tenor,.." and bunch of differents techniques, its simply impossible to keep the same neck curve. i mean, ok as u said it keeps to be the same, BUT we dont want it to stay the same....  we want it be the best regarding the techniques, open tune and strings we use.that what i really dont understand. the little guy in the video masters a bunch of bass moderns technics and he says in the description that he is not able to play a normal vigier bass... i said myself "*?" and i checked all vigier bass artists... so far i didnt seen anyone like him. (if i missed something plz give me some links)ok, i understand that if someone play exclusively classic bass (classic finger, old school slap and tapping..) he mays not be concerned by the problem im expliciting, but im pretty sure most of people like their new polyvalent phone and do more with it than they did with their old phone 20years ago..So, im pretty sure there's something i missed. maybe we have to setup the neck at the factory ? and maybe we have to get many vigier bass, one for each opentune/style/techniques ?I've checked your videos Roey, i saw a great passionated bass player ;) i think it's normal that you feel confortable with a normal vigier bass, but maybe with an adjustable neck you could even go a level higher, trying new techniques, new strings, new open tune... who knows ? : )(im french but i saw there was more people in the english forum)

Thanks for the compliment.

As for the question, every bass has things it can and can't do.

The thing with Vigier necks is that they are made to be the best for what they are (straight & slim neck), there are some sacrifices when you make an insrument stable to that extream.

To ask them to make an adjustable neck is like asking the Renault f1 team to make a off-road car.

Playing bass is my job and I have many basses, the main reason I play the Vigier one IS how stiff and reliable the neck is.

If you are looking for an 80's model BassDirect has one (in the UK): http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Vigier_Passion_1984.html

it has a tross rod cover so I assume it has a tross rod :)
