I Guess another option may be to create an extra plate under or over the pickup "ear" and screw this to the existing plate using the single hole in the std plate?

I wonder if you can order Duncans with a 3 screw ( 2 plus 1 ) baseplate ?I have a Caparison horus with similar problem - only the pickups are body mounted, not thru a scratchplate
