your new guitar is perfect and as expected to be. Only Customs/Originals have that accessory. All other Excaliburs don't have that holder.

Hi there, my two cents here .... 1) Kahler nut ... if I recall correctly, early Excalliburs had both Kahler floyds (with the bearings mod) and nuts. Then I believe for some time Kahler nuts stayed and the bridge was replaced with a Schaller made floyd, I've seen those. So, I may be wrong but my bet ...

I don't see why not, there's 25.5 scale 7 string guitars out there .... Using the Kaos, with a 12-54 set, you get 90lbs tension in that tuning you mention. In that example, it's a bit floppier on the bass strings than usual, so maybe low strings could go a bit heavier gauge. Anyway, you can experime...

For what it's worth, my amber finish GV Wood is #102. I haven't removed the neck though, so no idea which date may be stamped.

There's another amber GV Wood in Madrid (another owner), which is #101.
